I normally use windows at work when I want to edit a video file, to cut out the bits I want and tack them together and such using windows movie maker. Is there an equivalent to do the same thing for mac? Preferably free?

Also, is it possible to do this with flv files? I've been having to convert them to other formats before I can work with them x.x
