Internet speed in notebooks is determined by your wireless card. Depending on how old the laptop you are replacing is, the "Mac book" will be faster because they use wireless "n" cards.

Apple's web browser is likely to be faster than most, yet you can download and use a PC version. iTunes dominates the digital music programs, yet again you can use this on a PC.

If all you want is a laptop to listen to music, surf the internet, and not much else. Get a PC, spend less than $500 on it, so in a few years when you decide you need to do more, you can upgrade to either a better PC or a Mac book.

I have a Mac book pro for school & personal use, and two HP laptops for work. I like the Mac for surfing and music, but if I could only have one, I would have to take the PC, I have to be able to connect to work.
