Default How do you connect a Verizon cable modem to an Apple Airport Extreme? HELP!?

I am having a hard time trying to figure the whole thing out. I can only get the USB cable for the printer in correctly.. but when it comes to the Ethernet cable, the DSL and cable modem things, i dont get it. I've been messing with this for a few hours and sadly I haven't gotten anywhere :/
I have tried looking online but I can't get anything that will help me a lot..

My mother currently owns a PC, and we use a modem to access internet. I want to access wireless internet from my new MacBook Pro. I'm confused about the DSL slot from the modem and how I set it up with the Apple Airport Extreme. Do I plug it in where it fits into the the modem or do I plug the opposite end in (the one that's connected to the phone jack)?

One of the 4 Ethernet slots next to the DSL from the modem only have the Modem/Data cable attached on one end, and the PC/Ethernet jack is attached to the other end which is connected to the back of the PC. The PC/Ethernet jack also has a USB/PC jack attached to it as well.

I am so confused on what to do.
