Default Why is my mac saying "airport does not have an IP address and cannot

connect to the internet? I am also getting an error message saing "192.168.1.100 is in use by 00:1c:10:**:**, DHCP Server 192.168.1.1

please help, i can't connect to the internet, the computer is new but has been woring fine and has been on several networks since i got it with no problem. there are also 3 other computers on the internet using my home connection
the mac address that the error message lists does not match the ones of any of the computers in my network (i looked this up on the lynksis page i think under dhcp client table)
i shut down two of the 4 computers, i left only the one i'm on now and the mac, no luck. i wish apple had 24 hour tech service, i've been using macs for 8 years and have never seen this problem

This is just a guess, but it sounds like one of the other computers on your network is trying to use the same IP address as your new laptop. Just for grins you might try turning off the other computers and see if your new laptop works. If that is the case you might have to look at how your airport access point is setup. It is possible that the DHCP server is only setup to accommodate 3 computers and your 4th one can't get an IP address.
