Hi,
i recently purchased a 21.5 inch iMac and I've been researching the net to find out whether i needed security protection for i as i will be downloading various torrents etc can somebody recommend me a good security software which does not slow my iMac down,

If you are downloading torrents files from the net then you must gear up to protect your Mac from possible malwares or viruses. In the recent days torrent files have caused much troubles for Mac systems. It is recommended not to download unsafe torrent files on your Mac because it increases the chances of intrusion of malwares.

If you have OS X Lion then Goto->system preference>security & privacy->general and click the check box of Automatically update safe download list. This will help the system to perform a check up of the file first then aloow it to download.

However, for your protection of iMac you can look for anti-virus softwares like Sophos Anti-Virus for Mac Home Edition.
