Default I'm looking to buy a mac, Macbook or Macbook Pro?

I've been messing around on the site building them with the specs I want, and i've been noticing that there really isn't that large of a difference in the specs for the $300 difference that occurs between them at the stock level. I'd be throwing on microsoft too. (Is it true that microsoft and limewire makes your hard drive spin?) When I build them out the difference actually gets bigger which I don't understand because the parts are the same price on each of the laptops, but from a stock perspective it looks like you pay $300 for a 4GB memory that only costs $100 to put on the macbook. Trust me I've been bored and builing them to see the difference.
So what actually is the difference between the two besdies the screen and unibody design, does it come with more pre-loaded software? I know the Pro has a better graphics card. I mean I'll probably end up buying the Pro even if they are similar just because it's better and I can't fight off that itch to have the "best" but I am interested in learning the differences before I make a stupid move.
Thank you
