Default Magsafe adapter for my Macbook pro won't provide a charge, but does supply power?

Alright, I've had this issue on 2 separate occasions now and the first prompted me to buy a second power supply which works brilliantly. The original that came with my MBP started working again after a couple days and so i've used that one as my permanent one at my desk and pack the other with the MBP while i'm on the go. But today i came into my office and plugged in the old and formerly faulty adapter and the same thing is happening. The light on the adapter is dimly light green, so that it looks like it is off, yet upon close inspection you can see a slight glimmer. The odd thing is, that it will supply the MBP with enough power to retain the charge that it has (battery will hold, say, a 67% charge forever, but won't gain any charge). I've done some googling and most of the problems like this experience the same issue with all power cords, however, my other newer cord works just fine. Is there anything I can do to fix this? I'm not overly concerned because i do have a spare, but having 2 makes things soooo much easier.
