Default How can I record multitrack on a MacBook Pro from a digital mixer?

I just received a brand new Core i7 15" MacBook Pro with all sorts of goodies like Logic Studio 9. The book has optical line in so obviously I can record multitrack in Logic. However, how many channels are my limitation? I'm not interested in doing a "mixerless" setup as I want to capture the raw channels out of a digital mixer. The school I am attending uses a slew of different mixers but the post production boards are Yammah M7CL's. I don't think my book can handle all 32 channels at once, but can I grab, say, 16 channels? If so, how? Via fiber? Via ethernet? Firewire?

I'm not quite sure how to get it from the board to my computer and what the limitations are.
