Default How can I stop my Macbook Pro battery from cycling?

I currently have a 13 inch Macbook Pro and my battery's cycle count is at 179. I heard that once it reaches 400-500, I'm going to have to replace the battery... And since I don't have Apple Care, I don't want to have to pay 100 bucks for it. My cousin told me to drain my battery down to 20% or 30% before plugging in my charger instead of letting it drain down to 20% and then charging it. She also told me not to overcharge it. Any tips or tricks on how to stop my battery from cycling? Thank you.
