Default MacBook Pro Water Spill? Help please?

So I was watching a hilarious movie on my computer when I tipped my cup over by accident, and water went flying over my keyboard, not just in droplets but major amounts in some places! I scrambled to used a towel to mop up as much as I could, then frantically tried to stop the video (idiot I am) and noticed the mouse getting shaky. That's when I force shut-down the computer, and turned it over ASAP. I let some drain out the side in dry rice, and then turned the machine upside down. I opened it up from the back (this is a spring 2010 model) and looked into it. Some parts were a tad damp, and I left it to dry upside down over night, and during the school day. Now I've come home and I'm searching for corrosion and can find none, or anything that looks like damage in the back. After reading many FAQs suggesting I remove the battery (keep in mind the system is OFF) I tried, but in order to do that I need a special screw driver.

My question is: Is it going to be alright if I leave it alone for a long time before attempting to revive it? Also, how long should I wait? Is there anything else I can do? It was water, keep in mind.

I know I shouldn't have had water nearby. My sister spilled Dr. Pepper all over her keyboard and hers was fried, even though she did nothing to stop it. Now I'm typing this on her new regular mac laptop, and wondering if I will have the same fate. Oh please someone, help me! My mom will kill me if she finds out about this... How long should I wait before turning this thing on? I can see no visible damage anywhere, and the machine seems dry!

Thank you in advance.
