Default Emptying the trash on macbook pro?

On my mac book pro when I empty the trash it comes up with this message:" Emptying the Trash cannot be completed because "DutchOven.MPG" is locked. To empty everything in the Trash, including locked items, press the Option key while selecting Empty Trash." This file: DutchOven.MPG is no longer in the trash. Any ideas how to get rid of this problem?
Reboot will not work - tried that before. Thanks.
and yes, I already tried pressing the option key while emptying the trash. It does not work either.
Frederick ... I tried going into the terminal and putting in the commands but the file that is said to be locked did not come up but went through process to the end. It has not worked. Still there. Thanks for all the responses.
