Ok my mom asked me if I wanted this for Christmas and after doing some research here is what I have come up with...
In a nut shell....

Why should I get an apple tv when I have an Xbox that will let me stream vids and watch netflix....

When I have en external hard drive 500gb that holds all of my downloaded movies...tv shows...and music

When I get all of said downloaded content *cough* for free *cough*

I saw that it can use iCloud but I don't have that and don't want to spend $30 on lion to get it...

I do understand that it is wireless so u can take it to a friends house or on vacation...but do you need Internet?

I was thinking I could cancel my cable and use this for cheaper but like I said I have
An xbox (Netflix) and if I can't watch the show down to the hour that it premiers on tv on the apple tv then I can just dl it * cough* for free*cough*

I'm sure there must be a lot I have missed but if there are other benefits to this device that I am unaware of...please let me know

I really don't want my mom to waste money on this if I'm not going to get good use out of it
