Mac Forums

I was told by mac workers that most colleges require you to have a mac for graphic design. I really don't like mac that much, but I was told that places such as Kent State require mac books for there vcd program. I was also told that a lot of good graphic design schools require you to have mac. Is this true? Will I have to purchase a mac inorder to learn what I need to learn for the graphic design field? Will i need a mac to pass the classes necessary for a career in any computer media production?
