Default How do I scan documents/photos using a Mac?

I have a Brother MFC-8440 printer/scanner/fax/copier. I've used it for years on a PC. The PC CD comes with Paperport, which is the program that I have been using to scan to my computer, and to modify/edit the scans. I just switched to a Mac, and the Mac CD only seems to contain drivers. There is no Paperport for Mac on the CD. I cannot figure out how to scan anything to the computer. I'm using Leopard.
Clarification: I already installed the drivers. I can print fine. I just can't scan to the computer due to the lack of the Paperport software.

Go to Brother's web site and see if they have a scanner driver for Mac.

If they don't, the long way around is to use twain-sane. http://www.ellert.se/twain-sane/ Not for the faint of heart, but it works perfectly.
