Default High Quality videos on Mac OS X never load...why?

I have a Mac OS X with the latest version of Flash player, but the 'high quality' option on YouTube does not work for me. I try to load it and I've waited for over an hour, and it doesn't even get beyond those little dots that go in a circle. I'm on Firefox and Safari (tried both, I mean).

Why doesn't it work? What am I missing?

yes, they have HQ videos if you add &fmt=6 to the end of the address.
