Default Im a dj and want to expand into photography and video. I want to do it...

...all with one computer. So PC or Mac? Basically I want one computer to be the production tool that brings it all together. Where I record my mixes onto, edit my photos and video, etc. I want to use it for all my various projects. I'm used to PC but I hear MAC is the industry standard for all things media related.

Most people use PC's because they are more common, better known and less expensive than mac. But, if you really need a computer that will always work, no matter what, for whatever you want, (in other words, if you really need the advanced technology) than Mac is the answer

You can use Mac or PC, but PC will require you to purchase additional software to do what you want to do. The initial cost of the Mac is more, but I think in the end you'll end up paying about the same and have tools that are already integrated to play nicely with each other...not so much the case on a PC.

Macs come preloaded with really good software for these types of projects, like iTunes, GarageBand, iMovie, and iPhoto. However, they're useless if you don't like using them or if these features aren't enough for what you want to do. I would recommend trying one out at an Apple Store and seeing how you feel about it. I adapted to the Mac quickly, and the software is really great, but there are a lot more options for PCs (and they're more affordable). Your call. Good luck!

My wife is a photographer and we got an iMac last spring... there is no substitute. Even Adobe Photoshop runs better on a Mac... on the PC, the profile/settings would get corrupted every now and then on the PC. My 10 year old son now does the DVD production for photo presentations... he figured it out by himself with no help from us. I am a software programmer and left Windows based development almost 10 years ago (though mainly because I moved to the web/Java development).

The bottom line is, buy a Mac
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Additional info
------------------------------------
For those of you who say the Mac is more expensive, see the link below... it is NOT... in fact, with similar components, the Mac is actually CHEAPER than an equivalent Dell/Sony PC.

As far as software goes... the PC has a greater "range" of software... though, most of it crap. The Mac comes preloaded with EVERYTHING you need... and whatever software you purchase simply runs BETTER (and there is a reason for that... I know because of my software development background).

Now that Apple is using the Intel Core Duo processors, they are actually FASTER than the PowerPCs for half the price (of the processor).

Ease of use... my proof is that my wife was constantly calling me with questions on the PC, while with the Mac she is now telling me how to do things. Then, while I've had video/DVD software on the PC, when my 10 year old started using the Mac, he was able to produce a DVD without any help from me... he couldn't even create a movie on the PC (at all).
