I normally use windows at work when I want to edit a video file, to cut out the bits I want and tack them together and such using windows movie maker. Is there an equivalent to do the same thing for mac? Preferably free?
Also, is it possible to do this with flv files? I've been having to convert them to other formats before I can work with them x.x |

If you have OS X (version 10 or newer) your mac should come installed with "iMovie" which is located in the applications folder. I am not sure if they work with .flv files but there is a website for converting .flv files:

Most Macs come with iLife pre-installed, which includes iMovie. iMovie can import pretty much any video format that will play in QuickTime player, but I don't think FLV is one of them. If you don't already have iMovie you can buy the whole iLife package for $80, or you can download the 30-day free trial of MediaEdit (http://www.miensoftware.com/Downloads.html ). There is no free software out there, though (at least not that I know of).
