My friend has a video on his mac that I want, and when he tried to email it to me I try saving it and it says the codec that was used to compress the file isn't compatible or something like that. It goes both ways so he can't save videos from me either. What can I do?

Use VLC Player or Apple QuickTime. Alternatively, tell your friend to send the video as a flash (swf) file. It's cross-compatible on all platforms.
