Why are Microsoft and Apple moving their consumer video editors the way
of the family movie-maker? Whenever a new version of Windows Movie Maker or iMovie comes out, the controls seem extremely dumbed down. They're even removing the timeline! Everything now seems to be revolving around simple family videos of kids and pets. What about the others that make movies with real stories or "purpose" (used lightly) to them? Do we really have to go out and buy better tools to get simple features that should be included in the basic editors?
