Default iTunes "forgets" my music?

recently, the music i've been adding to iTunes (from CD) is going missing when i close the program... well, sort of;
when i import the music, it's fine, and also when i create a playlist, however if i close iTunes, the next time i open it, the recently added music is not listed in the library, but the files are still on the disk.

currently there are 1946 mp3 songs in my library, and there are 6 albums i want to add, but these will vanish every time i close the program...

any suggestions please??

yeah. just use Windows Media Player to rip the CD, then sync your library up with iTunes. and that way your files stay in MP3, not AAC, but you can still use iTunes and put them on your iPod.
