I have a new laptop and my entire iTunes library is all on my old desktop (which still works fine)
I have a iPhone that my entire library is also on.

My question is:
Can i simply plug my iPhone into my new laptop and will the library automatically cross over?
Or are there settings I'd need to change for that to work?
Or will I need to back up my library on my desktop and then put those disks into my laptop?

I also remember hearing somewhere that you can only transfer your library 3 times and i think this will be my fourth.
