every time i try to save as, save a copy, try to export, try to open a file while illustrator is open it crashes. i noticed that every time a finder window is opened through illustrator it will crash. for example... i have been trying to save my design as a pdf to send to my client. so i go to file save as then window opens i have a few seconds to click around and then it crashes. i noticed it was when the saving feature is being used so i tried to debunk it by trying to open up a file through the file menu... sure enough as soon as the finder window opens illustrator crashes. restarted the computer. created a new file. copy and pasted the file into a new file. tried it with a file if just simple text. did all of these things and nothing. please help.

summary: every time a FINDER WINDOW is opened THROUGH ILLUSTRATOR CS5 it crashes. (ex. open file, saves as, export, save a copy... all these things open up finder windows and make illustrator crash.)

I'm currently having a very similar problem with Illustrator CS5.5 on OSX 10.5.8. Ai is crashing when finder is opened from Ai particularly when dealing with linked files within the document.

Did you ever figure this out?
